Notice of Vacancy - Planning Commissioner

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Lemon Grove City Council will be accepting applications to fill two (2) Planning Commission vacancies for partial terms.

Applications must be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office no later than Monday, January 12, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered. The City Council will conduct interviews and consider appointments at the Tuesday, January 20, 2026 City Council meeting.

REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, reside within the City of Lemon Grove and be registered to vote in the City of Lemon Grove at the time the application is submitted. The City Council will make appointments to fill the following partial terms, both beginning February 1, 2026:

  • ·         One term ending June 30, 2026; and
  • ·         One term ending June 30, 2027.

This position is compensated $50 per Commissioner, per meeting in attendance.

What the City Clerk Does

  • Prepares City Council agendas and agenda packets; records and preserves official minutes, ordinances, and resolutions.
  • Maintains the Lemon Grove Municipal Code and serves as custodian of official City records; coordinates California Public Records Act (CPRA) responses.
  • Administers municipal elections in coordination with the County and the California Secretary of State; publishes legal notices and election information.
  • Serves as the local filing officer under the Political Reform Act for campaign finance (e.g., Form 460/410) and Statements of Economic Interests (Form 700); supports compliance and public access to filings.
  • Manages board and commission recruitments, appointments, and oaths; maintains the annual Local Appointments List (Maddy Act).
  • Supports Brown Act open meeting compliance and provides parliamentary/procedural guidance to the City Council.
