NOTICE OF INTENTION TO FILL CITY COUNCIL VACANCY BY APPOINTMENT

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Lemon Grove is now accepting applications from qualified residents to fill a vacancy on the City Council. This vacancy was created by the passing of Councilmember Steve “Sitivi” Faiai on July 8, 2025. On August 5, 2025, the City Council directed staff to open the application process for appointment to the vacant Council seat.

The appointed individual will serve the remainder of the unexpired term through December 2026.

Qualifications/Eligibility:

  • Must be a United States citizen

  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment

  • Must be a resident and registered voter of the City of Lemon Grove at the time of application

  • Not have been convicted of a felony involving accepting or giving, or offering to give, any bribe, the embezzlement of public money, extortion or theft of public money, perjury, or conspiracy to commity any of those crimes. (EC Section 20)

Application Period:
Thursday, August 7, 2025 through Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. (Deadline is firm; late applications will not be considered.)

The City Clerk is responsible for coordination and preparation of City Council Meeting agendas and packets, City Council Minutes, Municipal Code maintenance, City records management, and election administration.

The City Clerk serves as the local filing officer for all campaign and conflict of interest disclosure statements as required by the State Political Reform Act. This includes campaign contributions and expenditure reports from officeholders, candidates for City Council and committees, as well as Statements of Economic Interest from current City officials and designated employees, in accordance with the City’s Conflict of Interest Code.

In compliance with the requirements of the Maddy Act (California Government Code Section 54972) the following Appointments List is posted on annual basis on or before December 31st. The Local Appointments List indicates a list of appointive terms with the name of the incumbent appointee, the date of the appointment, and the date the term expires.
