What is Fair Housing?
Fair housing exists when individuals and families of similar income have the same housing choices regardless of race or color, ancestry or national origin, religion, sex, disability (physical & mental),marital or familial status, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, source of income, medical condition, genetic information, gender expression, and arbitrary status. 
Housing discrimination is illegal. If you believe you have been the victim of housing discrimination, please call the Fair Housing Hotline at 1-844-449-3500. Click here for more information on common violations of Fair Housing Law and how to report violations. 


Tenant-Landlord Mediation
When tenants or landlords have conflicts that are not related to discrimination, help is available.  
If you are having a problem with your landlord, tenant, roommate, or neighbor, the Legal Aid Society of San Diego, Inc. provides free Fair Housing services and tenant/landlord referral information to Lemon Grove residents.  You may receive assistance through contacting the Fair Housing Hotline at 1-844-449-3500. Crime Free Multi-Housing Training for Property Owners/Managers

The CRIME FREE MULTI-HOUSING PROGRAM (CFMH) is successful because it approaches crime on many fronts. Law enforcement cannot solve crime problems alone. Neither can the management or residents of rental properties. However, by working together, the end result has been the most successful approach to crimes in rental communities. 

There are three ways criminal activity comes into a rental community:

  1. The criminal lives there
  2. They visit friends there
  3. They come to the property to commit crimes

The CRIME FREE MULTI-HOUSING PROGRAM addresses all three of these possibilities. By implementing the principles of the program, property owners and managers not only reduce the likelihood of crime in the community, they also reduce the number of visitors who come to the property with criminal intent (i.e., to purchase or sell drugs).

For the opportunistic criminal, the CFMH Program uses C.P.T.E.D. (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) techniques to combat crimes that might occur in the parking lots or common areas, including assaults, robberies, drive-by shootings, and auto thefts.

If law enforcement, property managers and residents will make a dedicated effort to crime prevention and the CRIME FREE MULTI-HOUSING PROGRAM, the outlook for success is extremely high. We appreciate your efforts to make our community a safer place to live and enjoy for many years to come.
